Palmer H. Reese
Service: June 20, 2012
Palmer H. Reese
Palmer H. Reese, age 80, of the Town of Farmington, was called home by the Lord on Saturday evening, June 16, 2012, after a long struggle with kidney failure, and diabetes at the Rainbow Hospice Center in Johnson Creek. For Palmer, with all he had gone through, this was his greatest birthday gift ever.
He was born on June 16, 1932 in Farmington, the son of Harold and Venita (Hesse) Reese. On June 27, 1953 he married the former Marion Kutz at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Newville, WI.
Palmer lived on the same family farm all of his life and was a graduate of Farmington Center School. He and Marion worked side by side making a small dairy operation and raising crops, a great way to bring up their family. He also worked away from the farm at Brownberry Ovens in Oconomowoc for thirty-three years. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Farmington.
Palmer and Marion loved polka dancing and playing cards with relatives and friends. In his younger years he played baseball in a hayfield behind the Farmington General Store, which was the first baseball field in Farmington. Palmer also enjoyed league bowling, pheasant hunting, playing softball and fishing. His other pleasures were watching the Green Bay Packers, those old westerns, listening to WTKM Hartford, being with family friends, and his little sweetheart, great-granddaughter, Haylie.
Palmer is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marion; a son, Donald (Kris) Reese of Farmington; a son-in-law, Richard Wrench of Johnson Creek; one grandson, Jeffery Reese of Farmington; three granddaughters, Kelly Reese of Farmington, Amy (Scott) Chance of Watertown, Janet (Brian) Wrench-Anderson of Ada, Ohio; four great-grandchildren, Jeremy Wagie, Jacob Christian, Haylie Reese, Baby Girl Anderson, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Palmer was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter Jean (Reese) Wrench and a sister, June Wolff, as well as other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at 11 a.m. Immanuel Lutheran Church in Farmington with Rev. Richard Pagels officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
