Lillian L. Hanke, 78, of Watertown, passed away on Friday, June 22, 2018 at Three Pillars in Dousman.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Watertown with Rev. Rodney Warnecke officiating. Burial will take place at Lutheran Cemetery in Watertown. Family and friends may gather at Hafemeister Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials, if desired, would be appreciated to the charity of one’s choice. Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Watertown is serving the family. Lillian Louise Fortmann was born on June 4, 1940 in Oconomowoc, the daughter of Edwin and Ruth (nee Nass) Fortmann. On July 10, 1965 she was united in marriage to Charles Raymond Hanke at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Oconomowoc. Charles preceded her in death on May 6, 1993. Lillian had been employed at a shoe factory in Oconomowoc as a young woman. She also worked at Shopko in Watertown. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Watertown. She enjoyed flower gardening, dancing as well as bowling in her younger years.
Lillian is survived by her children, Keith Hanke of Watertown, Dean Hanke of Watertown and Cheryl (Troy Maas) Hanke of Reeseville; grandson, Zachary Hanke of Watertown; “adopted” grandchildren, Branden Zastrow and Emily Marzahl; great-grandchildren, Trentyn Hanke and Boltyn Hanke; siblings, Marliene (David) Whitney of Sullivan, Elaine Koeppler of Watertown and Robert (Linda) Fortmann of Watertown as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was further preceded in death by her parents; brother, Edwin Fortmann; two sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law.
The family would like to give a sincere thank you to the staff at Three Pillars and Allay Hospice for the wonderful care they provided. Also, a very special heartfelt thank you to Jutta, Britta, Danielle, Bretta, and Chaplain Tim for the tender care and concern for mom and the family. You are so very appreciated.
