Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 3, 2015 at 11:00 a.m.at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lebanon with Rev. David Phillips officiating. Family and friends may gather at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery in Lebanon. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Immanuel Lutheran Church Lebanon, Rainbow Hospice, or Highland House in Watertown are appreciated.
Meta Louise Turke was born on July 14, 1917 in Lebanon, the daughter of Fred and Louise (nee Minning) Baumann. She married William Turke on June 26, 1938 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lebanon. William preceded her in death on February 24, 1988. Meta was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and was currently the oldest member. She formerly served on the Ladies Aid for Immanuel. She was a member of the Dodge County Homemakers as well as the Lebanon Historical Society. Meta was also a volunteer at Watertown Hospital.
Meta is survived by a special niece Joan and her husband Dan Oestreich; sisters-in-law, Gladys Baumann, Marjorie Baumann, Frieda Turke as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Meta was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Louise; husband, William; a son in infancy as well as brothers, Waldemar “Wally” Baumann; Harold Baumann; sisters-in-law, Vanita (Martin) Schramm; Lorena (John) Wenzler; Hilde (Irv) Henkel; Lydia (Martin) Raether; brothers-in-law Armund Turke; Lester (Sylvia) Turke; and Arthur (Dorthea) Turke. She was further preceded in death by her parents-in law Louis and Adela (nee Schuett) Turke.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the outstanding staff at Highland House in Watertown for the wonderful care she received the last three years.
