Roger L. Wilkes, age 88, of Watertown, passed away Tuesday morning, July 2, 2013 at the Watertown Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services for Roger will be held on Saturday, July 6th at 10 a.m. at St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Watertown, with the Rev. James Werner officiating. Burial, with military graveside rites, will be provided by the Watertown American Legion Post #189, at the Lutheran Cemetery in Watertown.

Relatives and friends may call to pay their respects at the church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials, in Roger’s name, may be given to the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church Choir.

Roger Louis was born in Watertown on November 20, 1924, son of John and Emma (Reich) Wilkes. He was a 1943 graduate of Watertown High School and served in the U.S. Air Force. On May 24, 1952, Roger married the former Betty Becker at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Watertown.
He had been employed for the Wisconsin Electric Company for 43 years. Roger was a member of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and was a member of the church choir for over 50 years. He was a hockey and baseball player and enjoyed wood working. He was also a member of the Watertown American Legion Post #189.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Wilkes of Watertown; a brother, LaVerne (Marilyn) Wilkes of Watertown; a sister-in-law, Mae Wilkes of Watertown; a brother-in-law, Jack Becker of Shawano; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Lee, Howard and Kenneth.
