Jeraldine “Jerry” A. Schmidt, 78, of Watertown, passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at Dycora Transitional Health in Watertown.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Henry Catholic Church in Watertown with Father Alex Carmel officiating. A private burial will take place for the family after the Memorial Mass, at Glenview Memorial Gardens in Ixonia. Family and friends may gather for visitation at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Watertown is serving the family. Jeraldine Augusta Olson was born on February 7, 1939 in Thief River Falls, Minnesota, the daughter of Raymond and Rose (nee Timm) Olson. On November 4, 1958, she was united in marriage to Andrew Schmidt at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, Minnesota. Jerry owned and operated The Yarn Shoppe and A&J Sewing and Vacuum Center, both in Watertown. She was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church. Jerry loved gardening and knitting and was an avid sports fan.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Andrew Schmidt of Watertown; three children, Julie (John Wandersee) Henze, Craig (Deanna) Schmidt of Juneau and Sandy (Tim) Dummer of Watertown; six grandchildren: Eric (Kim) Henze, Amy (Jesse) Medina, Chad (Naomi) Dummer, Brittany Schmidt, Nicole Schmidt and Kevin Schmidt; eight great-grandchildren; four brothers, Kenny (Elaine) Olson, Edward (Joanne) Olson, Roger Olson and Gary (Pat) Olson as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Jerry was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Joyce Arnold and brother, Harold Olson.
