Michael P. Schuenemann, age 74, of Watertown, passed away on Sunday, July 1, 2018 at UW Hospital in Madison.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday July 6, 2018 at 4 p.m. at Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown with Rev. Kurt Liebenow officiating. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Memorials, if desired, may be directed to the charity of one’s choice. Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Watertown is serving the family. Michael Paul Schuenemann was born on August 15, 1943 in Watertown, the son of Paul and Gertrude (nee Krueger) Schuenemann. He graduated Watertown High School as part of the class of 1962. He then joined the United States Army, playing for their football team. Mike married the former Mayris Saniter on April 19, 1962 in Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on June 10, 2016. In his younger years, Mike played fullback for the Madison Mustangs. He enjoyed cooking, and making others happy and fed. He was his grandchildren’s biggest fan, especially watching them play sports. He was known for his sense of humor. He was a member of Watertown Elks and Watertown Moose. Mike worked at NM Transfer in Neenah as a Senior Account Manager.
Michael is survived by his four children, Kelly Marie Schuenemann of Roscoe, IL; Matthew Schuenemann of Watertown, Amy (Brian) Mass of Watertown; Amanda (Christopher) Gruchow of Watertown; ten grandchildren: Christopher Jr., Brittany, Ashley, Desiree, Alexis, Teya, Caden, Addison, Logan, and Nolan as well as six great-grandchildren; sisters, Edie (Steve) Holtz of Watertown; Polly (David) Baker of Grand Haven, MI; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Michael was further preceded in death by his parents, son, Mike Schuenemann; and grandson, Thomas Schuenemann;
