The Lord called Florence home on July 4, 2017 at around 11:30 pm.
Funeral services will be held on July 8 at 1:00 at Hafemeister Funeral Home with Pastor Luke Anderson of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Grafton officiating. Visitation will be at 12:00 until time of services.
Private burial will be held at Glenview Memorial Gardens, Ixonia.
Florence was born in Watertown on October 13, 1926 to Elmer and Esther (Degner) Nell. She was married to Howard Herold at St. John Lutheran Church on June 14, 1947. Howard preceded her in death in 2014.
Since moving to Port Washington, she has been a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Grafton. She was a graduate of St. John Lutheran School and Northwestern Prep, class of 1944. Until marriage, she was employed as a bookkeeper at John Habbegger Co., Watertown. Later she was a bookkeeper at Northwestern College for 35 years and Watertown Radio Inc. for 28 years. She was also the hostess of the radio program “Kitchen Klub” for 20 years. Florence also organized the state (Badger) chapter of American Women in Radio and Television, of which she served several terms as President and also Treasurer.
Florence was blessed with 3 children who survive: Gail (Brian) Thiede, Port Washington; Glenn (Terry) Herold, Cedarburg and Lynn (Mark) Langenfeld, Monticello. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren: Anne (Peter) Klein, Saukville; Jennifer (Jeff) McGinley, Pearland, Texas; Rachel Thiede, Waukesha; and Holly Jordan, Durham, North Carolina. There are 3 great-grandchildren: Sydney Klein and Darren and Leah Phan. Also survived by brother and sister-in-law Leroy and Marion Nell of Johnson Creek, and nieces Pamela (Samir) Mahshie and Christine (Rick) Ulrich and their families.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran School, Grafton or the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.
