James W. Hunter Sr.
James W. Hunter Sr., age 86, formerly of St. Paul Park, MN, was called to his eternal rest on Saturday morning, July 6, 2013, at Rainbow Hospice in Johnson Creek.
A Christian Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at 10 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Watertown, with Rev. Paul Kuckhahn officiating. Burial will be at Glenview Gardens in Ixonia.
Relatives and friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. The Hafemeister Funeral Home of Watertown is serving the family. Online condolences may be made at www.hafemeisterfh.com.
James William Hunter was born on December 21, 1926, in St. Paul, MN, the son of Harold and Gertrude (Dahms) Hunter. He served in the Navy during WWII. On September 14, 1946, he married Eileen Wagner at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in St. Paul, MN. James was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Watertown and a former member of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in St. Paul Park, where he served in many capacities. Christian education was very important to Jim. He volunteered many hours at St. Andrew’s Lutheran School and St. Croix Lutheran High School. He had been employed at Ashland Oil refinery as a supervisor for over 40 years. Jim loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
James is survived by his wife, Eileen, six children, Sandra Kastens of Watertown, James Hunter, Jr. (Vicky) of Wayzata, MN, Prof. Thomas Hunter (Lisa) of New Ulm, MN, Debra Faith (Rev.John) Dorn of Oshkosh, Rev. Randy (Karen) Hunter of Middleton, Paul Hunter (Robin) of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; fourteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, a brother Floyd Hunter and a sister Eleanor Engdahl, both of St. Paul, MN, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters-in-law, a brother-in law, and a son-in-law. Memorials may be designated to Trinity Lutheran Church. Blessed are those who die in the Lord.
