Paula G. Galaviz
Even During Our Darkest of Days the Lord Reflects His Promise
Paula Gale (Hose) Galaviz has courageously left behind her beautiful earthly home and now dances freely in the arms of our heavenly Father and Savior in the glorious ballroom of Heaven. Her journey to paradise on the early morning of July 9, 2016 was filled with tenderness and an abundance of love as she was surrounded by the love of her life Samuel and her family that she deeply loved and cared for. As we await our own transition into the hands of our Lord we are left comforted by the essence of her being that remains through her endless love of gardening that she shared with her best friend and husband Samuel. For those that mourn her earthly departure, be comforted, as she will always be seen in every flower that blooms, and through the trees that the wind blows through. Paula has left behind a permanent handprint on the hearts of so very many dear family, friends, and colleagues. Heaven will reunite us in time where we will once again have a chance to embrace her loving and joyful spirit.
Loving parents Angeline and Elmer Hose were blessed with an irreplaceable gift to this world as they welcomed their beautiful baby girl Paula into her earthly life on April 21, 1956. Angeline and Elmer raised Paula and her older brother Steven in Watertown, Wisconsin. Just as she was as an adult, Paula was a sweet and loving baby girl, growing into her faith as a student at St. Mark’s Lutheran School and later confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church. Paula was an excellent student, and received her secondary education at Lakeside Lutheran High School as well as Watertown High School where she was granted her diploma.
The excitement of college and academia led Paula to UW Stout where she received a degree in Vocational Rehabilitation. She furthered her education as a student of UW Milwaukee where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy in 1979. Extensive practice and continued learning earned her certification as a Hand Therapist in 1991. Determination, passion for the field, and her desire to help others led her to UW Madison where she was very proudly granted a Master of Science Degree in Therapeutic Science in 1994. Shortly thereafter Paula was granted certification in the field as a Registered Occupational Therapist. Paula accomplished her educational goals, but more importantly excelled in combining her knowledge with an unprecedented ability to heal others through physical techniques and the love and passion that she had for her work. Paula touched the lives of so many as she journeyed through her career. Paula excelled in every position that she held through her work at Bethesda Lutheran Homes, Beaver Dam and Watertown Memorial Hospitals, Wisconsin Hand Therapy Services, the Froedtert Hospital Hand Center, and the Medical College of Wisconsin Hand Center. As one of the best in the field Paula was honored with opportunities to teach others not only in Wisconsin and in the United States, but her hand extended across this beautiful earth into Panama, Guatemala, and Armenia. Paula was generous in her teachings as it was important to share all of her knowledge in an effort to help others.
A woman loved by so many already also captured the heart of Samuel Jesus Galaviz. Paula and Samuel bonded over a love for soccer. Their love for one another led them to marriage on January 7, 1984. Married life brought new experiences for Paula as a mother as well as a new found love for the Mexican culture. Paula carried her excellence in the field over to her family life as well. She committed herself to being the best wife and stepmother to 4 children that she could possibly be. Instilling in all of those around her lasting values and traditions that will be carried on for generations to come.
Paula will be forever and dearly remembered for her loving heart, her quiet and humble demeanor, her boisterous laugh, her love for pranks, her amazing ability to cook and bake, her love for bringing family together for holidays and celebrations, her big heart for all animals, her love for gardening, traveling, photography, mentorship, and for creating a loving home for her beloved husband and step children.
A woman of courage, strength, beauty and passion for all that life offered to her has left us on earth too soon but joined her Heavenly Father in His perfect timing. She is preceded in death and now joins hands with her father Elmer Hose. She is lovingly survived by her mother Angeline who was her dearest love, her brother Steven and wife Marie, her beloved best friend, and love of her life Samuel, her four step-children to whom she gave her all, Dulcinea Manuela Galaviz (Beeney) of Watertown, Amanda Lorraine of Appleton, Christopher Samuel of Beaver Dam, and Benjamin Joseph of Wisconsin Dells. Her grandchildren Joseph Wayne, Autumn Faythe, and Braydon Elijah Beeney and Skye Elliana and Elliott Samuel Galaviz. Paula lovingly leaves behind her niece Tonya Hose of Neenah; niece Jessica and her husband Shaun Luehring and their children Kailey, Casey, and Chase of Milwaukee; and nephew Andrew and wife Jessica and their children Gavin, Elijah, Dominick and Ruby of Coon Rapids, Minnesota. Additionally, many dear family members in Texas and Mexico, her very special friend Sara Seubert of Seattle, Washington, and many, many other special family members, friends, colleagues, clients, and students.
The true essence of a woman, the depth of her heart, the love for those around her and the magnitude of her personality cannot possibly be measured by anything tangible but rather by the feeling and the energy she imprints on your heart. Paula shall now dance with the angels.
Paula & Sam were strongly embraced by the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Lebanon congregation and pastors and were known to be a part of spiritual family united by faith, love, compassion and most importantly an outpouring of helping hands. Paula continually vocalized her sentiments about the congregation and was very proud of being part of such a caring and loving group of people. A very special thank you to those who generously encouraged, loved, and showed compassion to Paula and Samuel throughout this difficult time.
This tribute was respectfully and lovingly written for a woman who described herself as "ordinary" and not one that "stands out in any particular way". To truly know and love Paula is to also know this is the furthest thing from the truth. We have been truly blessed to know and love her.
Sincerely and with deep love,
Amanda, Dulcinea, Christopher, and Benjamin Galaviz
