Ceilan “Jr.” A. Baker, age 70, of Watertown passed away Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Watertown with Rev. Rodney Warnecke officiating. Friends and family may call at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial, with full Military rites will be conducted by the Watertown American Legion Post 189 will be at Glenview Memorial Gardens in Ixonia. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the charity of one’s choice are appreciated. The Hafemeister Funeral Home of Watertown is serving the family. Online condolences may be made at www.hafemeisterfh.com.
Ceilan Arthur Baker Jr. was born on August 26, 1944 in Lodi, Ohio, the son of Ceilan Arthur Baker Sr. and Martha Elizabeth Baker (nee Waldorf). Jr. served in the United States Army from 1963-1966 where he received two purple hearts. On May 12, 1968, he married Lynn Strauss at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Watertown. Jr. was employed at Allis Chalmers as an engineer from 1966 until its closing. He then was employed at Luebke Manufacturing, River Valley Cooperative, and Tri-County Dairy until his retirement. After his retirement, Jr. became a “gopher” for Zick’s Auto Fix.
Jr. was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where he had served on various boards and committees. He was a member of Watertown American Legion Post 189, VFW Post 3709, 40 et 8 as well as an honorary member of the Sahara Shrine Club in Jefferson. He was also a member the Farm Bureau. Jr. was an avid Tractor Pulling fan. He enjoyed working outdoors, especially at his “Baker’s Acres”. He enjoyed meeting his “Breakfast Buddies” in the morning.
Jr. is survived by his loving wife, Lynn; sisters, Katherine Walters, Martha (George) Webster, Mary Hafenstein, Elizabeth (Rod) Moore as well as sisters-in-law, Gail (Charles) Rogers; Janet (James) Pieper; Patty (Thomas) Gillingham; brother-in-law, Mark Strauss as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by daughter Cynthia Lynn in 1987; parents, Ceilan Sr. and Martha; brother, Russell Charles; sister, Maggie Baker; brother-in-law, Art Hafenstein as well as parents-in-law Harvey and Lorraine Strauss.
