Norma M. A. Retzlaff, 95, of Watertown, was peacefully taken into the loving arms of God on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Marquardt Health Center in Watertown, surrounded by her loving children.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Watertown with Rev. Rodney Warnecke officiating. Burial will take place at Lutheran Cemetery in Watertown. Family and friends may gather at Hafemeister Funeral Home on Friday from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials, if desired, would be appreciated to St. John’s Organ Fund or other St. John’s funds. Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Watertown is serving the family. Norma Martha Adela Borth was born on April 18, 1923 in the Town of Emmet, the daughter of William and Clara (nee Saniter) Borth. Norma grew up on the family farm. She attended St. John’s Lutheran Grade School in Watertown and was a 1941 graduate of Watertown Senior High. Norma sang with her sisters and brother on WIBU Radio Station in Poynette for seventeen years where they were known as the Borth Quintet. She received her Advanced Secretarial Education from the Milwaukee Vocational School. On May 5, 1951 she was united in marriage to Ervin W. Retzlaff at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Watertown. Ervin preceded her in death on July 28, 1982. Norma worked ten years as a secretary at the Wisconsin Department of Taxation Courthouse in Milwaukee. She also worked in the Dietary Department at Marquardt Health Center in Watertown for ten years. She enjoyed traveling overseas, camping, gardening and cooking. She especially loved spending time with her family. Norma was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Watertown.
Those Norma leaves behind to cherish her memory include her children, Yvonne (Dennis) Moldenhauer of Watertown, Lee (Sue) Retzlaff of McFarland, Janel (Mike) Brandt of Wausau and Corinne (Daniel) Balmes of Mt. Prospect, Illinois; grandchildren, Joel Moldenhauer, Jeff Moldenhauer, Ryan Balmes, Mark Balmes, Jeremy (Danielle) Brandt and Michelle Brandt; great-grandchildren, Jadin, Jack and Julia Moldenhauer as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was further preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Robert (Alice) Borth, Selma Borth, Esther (Norman) Suhr and Meta (Lawrence) Behm.
