Delos E. Hinze (ďDelĒ), age 93, of Watertown, WI, was called home by his Lord and Savior surrounded by his family on Sunday, July 21, 2019 at Azura Memory Care in Oconomowoc, WI where he had resided for the last 3 years. Del battled Alzheimerís for the last 8 years of his life.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 27th at 12:00 noon at St. Johnís Lutheran Church in Watertown, WI with Rev. Warnecke of St. Johnís Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation is at St. Johnís from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery, Watertown, following the service.
Memorials, if desired, may be given to St Johnís Lutheran Church.
Delos was born June 13th, 1926 in Ashippun, WI, son of Edwin and Adelaide (nee Schellin), Hinze. He married Bernice E. Stillmacher on February 13, 1966 at St Marks Church in Watertown, WI.
Del moved to Watertown as a young child and attended St. Johnís Lutheran Grade School. He would then go on to attend Watertown High School where he graduated in 1944. In 1951, Del enlisted in the Army National Guard of Wisconsin. He had an entrepreneurial spirit. Some of his first jobs included a cheese and milk hauling route for DairyLane Milk. Del would later own and operate National Transit Cartage Co of Milwaukee, WI with his brother Allen. Subsequent to this, Del and his brother Allen owned and operated Red Eagle Oil & Truck Stop on I94 in Johnson Creek, WI until his retirement in 1985. Del along with his brother Allen built the Pine Cone Restaurant. During this time, Del and Allen would also operate A&D Oil, a private oil and gas exploration entity and developed Country Club Estates originally on their parentís farm.
Above all, Del, was a devoted Christian. He was an Elder and was a lifelong member at St. Johnís Lutheran Church. He was an avid bowler, an avid Packer fan, and passionate about the game of golf. Delos was a lifetime member of the Watertown Country Club where he caddied as a young boy, and was elected WCC President in 1963. He got a hole in one on #6 and won the WCC golf championship in 1965. Del especially loved traveling and excursions with his family; especially trips to Siesta Key, Fl, in the winter, and golf getaways with friends. Del loved spending quality time with his family.
Surviving are his wife Bernice (nee Stillmacher); a son, Greg (Sarah) Hinze; a daughter, Kristi (Chris) Giese, all of Watertown; two grandchildren, Keyera Giese of Wisconsin Lutheran College in Wauwatosa, WI and Caitlin Giese of Watertown, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents Edwin in 1976 and Adelaide in 1986; and brother and sister-in-law, Allen (Jeanette) Hinze.
The Family extends much appreciation for the exceptional care and love given to Del and his family the last 3 years by Azura Memory Care and Home Town Hospice.
