Kenneth E. Polensky, age 87, of Watertown passed away on July 27, 2015 at Golden Living Center in Watertown.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 31, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown with Rev. Karl Walther officiating. Family and friends may call at the Funeral Home from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial with full military rites will be conducted by the Watertown American Legion Post #189 at Glenview Memorial Gardens in Ixonia. Memorials, if desired, may be directed to Rainbow Hospice or the charity of one’s choice. The Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Watertown is serving the family. Kenneth Edward Polensky was born on September 6, 1927, the son of Edward and Alice (nee Gronert) Polensky. He attended St. Mark’s Lutheran Day School in Watertown and was a 1945 graduate of Watertown High School. He then enlisted in the United States Navy and was in the middle of the Pacific when Japan surrendered. As a Navy Reservist, he was recalled to serve his country during the Korean War. On October 30, 1954 he married the former Dorothy Wendt at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Watertown. Dorothy preceded him in death on September 11, 2008. Ken was a proud Teamster, working first by Dairy Lane in Watertown and then Carnation Instant in Oconomowoc. Ken was a member of the Richwood VFW and bartended many Memorial Day weekends while Dorothy worked the brat stand. He enjoyed reading as well as watching his favorite TV shows, NCIS and Blue Bloods.
Ken is survived by a daughter and a son, Debra Polensky and David Polensky both of Watertown. He is further survived by grandson, Brett Polensky also of Watertown; great-grandchildren, Rhea and Gavin Matti of Reeseville; brother, Lyle (Sylvia) Polensky of Watertown, sister, Rita (Dick) Klawitter of Madison as well as nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Alice; wife, Dorothy; sister, Gloria (Bill) Nelson; brother, Dale in infancy as well as parents-in-law Alfred and Hedwig Wendt.
