Shirley J. Schlatter, 84, of Watertown, passed away Monday afternoon, July 30, 2012, at the Golden Living Center in Watertown.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2012, at 7 p.m. at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Watertown, with Monsignor Daniel Ganshert presiding. Burial will be at St. Bernard’s Catholic Cemetery in Watertown.
Relatives and friends may call to pay their respects at the church on Thursday from 4 p.m. until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials, in Shirley’s name, may be directed to AseraCare Hospice.
Shirley J. Ebert was born in Watertown on September 18, 1927, daughter of Leo and Mae (Bence) Ebert.
On August 20, 1949, she married Theodore J. Schlatter at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Watertown. He preceded her in death on November 20, 1997.
Shirley had been employed at Aunt Nellies in Clyman, Mid-State Shoe Factory in Watertown and retired from Watertown Metals after 22 years of employment.
She was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church. Shirley had been a den mother for the Cub Scouts and volunteered as a reader at St. Bernard’s Catholic School. She enjoyed collecting dolls and stuffed animals.
Survivors include her daughter, Debra (Dan) Pranke of Watertown her sons, Richard (Vicki) Schlatter; Jeffery (Cynthia) Schlatter of Watertown; Mark (Jeri) Schlatter of Watertown; fourteen grandchildren, Angela (Myron) Dvorak, Teri (Felix) Esparza, Alisa (Mike Satian) Pranke, Rebecca Pranke, Pamela Henschel, Michael (Jessica) Schlatter, Eric (Leah) Schlatter, Theresa (Adam) Ahner, Matthew (Rachel) Schlatter, , Brian Schlatter, Kevin Schlatter, Timothy (fiancé, Jenna) Schlatter, Kyle Schlatter, Kayla (fiancé, Josh) Schlatter; twenty three great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Joanne Ebert, Mary Ebert, Gertrude Erdmann, one brother-in-law Carl Hodel, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Shirley was the last member of her immediate family and was further preceded in death by her parents, a great-grandson, Alejandro Satian; her sisters, Rita Hodel, Rachel Olson and her brothers, Don Ebert and Bruce Ebert.
Shirley’s family would like to thank the staff of AseraCare Hospice and the staff at Golden Living Center for the wonderful care they provided.
