Irma C. Weihert, age 88, of Watertown, passed away Friday morning, August 10, 2012, at her home surrounded by her family.
Irma was born in Watertown on May 18, 1924, the daughter of Arthur and Ida (Stueber) Abel. She graduated from Watertown High School in 1941.
On June 28, 1947, Irma married the love of her life, Earl Weihert, in Watertown at her parent’s home, and they were blessed with three children.
She was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Watertown. She loved her Lord dearly.
Irma worked at the former Klines Department Store in Watertown and was an active member of the Turner Hall Auxiliary, where she helped serve many meals and served as auxiliary secretary numerous years. She was also a member of the Watertown Senior Center and A.A.R.P. Chapter #3056.
Irma loved spending time with her family. She also loved to read and play bingo.
Irma is survived by her husband, Earl of Watertown; her children, Judy (Chuck) Wesemann, Nancy (Dave) Nelson and Jack (Tina) Weihert, all of Watertown; her grandchildren, Jason (Amy) Wesemann, Cory (RuthAnn) Wesemann, Craig (Melissa) Wesemann, Jenny (Chris) DaWalt, Jeremy (Sara) Wesemann, and Nathan, Natalie and Garett Weihert, all of Watertown; great grandchildren, Calley, Cassidy, Makayla, Joshua, Caleb and Harper Wesemann; two brothers, Art (Faye) Abel of Ames, IA; Herbert Abel of Juneau, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Margaret Stenzel and a great grandchild, Aidan Weihert.
Funeral services for Irma will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Watertown on Monday, August 13, 2012 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Rodney Warnecke officiating. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery in Watertown.
Relatives and friends may call to pay their respects at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
The family would like to thank their wonderful neighbors, friends and Rainbow Hospice for all their care and support.
