Born in Watertown on April 21st, 1945 to Frank M. and LaVon “Bonnie” James, Frank grew up with his older brother Ted before his younger brother Chuck arrived in 1950. The James boys spent their early childhood living on Twelfth Street until 1955, when the boys helped their father build the new family home at 1105 Western Avenue.
Frank attended Webster Elementary and moved on to Watertown Junior High before matriculating at Watertown Senior High School. The son of a popular chemistry teacher, Frank excelled in the classroom as well as the tennis court, and represented his classmates as vice president.
Upon graduation Frank attended the University of Wisconsin to study business, after which he entered into the military and served in Vietnam; for his efforts while in service Frank was awarded the Bronze Star. He returned to U.W. to pursue and earn his Masters in Business, and also met his future wife, Doris. They spent a year in New York City before returning to Madison, where they were married on April 14th, 1973 as Frank started a 21 year career with IBM.
While with IBM, Frank became the proud father of three children: Frankie, Danielle, and Sabrina. During this time, Frank's career took the family from Madison to Chicago and eventually to Germany. In 1986, the family settled down in Atlanta, GA, where except for two years spent in England (1989-1991), Frank lived for the rest of his life. Frank was in Watertown to attend his 50th class reunion, and was able to visit with his beloved classmates prior to his passing.
Frank was a proud son, brother, uncle, husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife Doris, his children Frankie (Tricia) of Prairie Village, KS; Danielle and Sabrina of Atlanta, GA, and his grandchildren Ava and Asher; his sister-in-law, Carolyn (Ted) of Martin, TN; his brother Chuck (Barbara) of Walworth, WI; nieces Marjorie (Allan) Sudberry of Murfreesboro, TN, Jennifer (Jack) Vincent of Martin, TN, and Shannon (Brent Reinen) James of Janesville, WI.
