Dora P. Huebner “Dodie”
Dora P. Huebner “Dodie”, 90, of Watertown, passed away at her home on Thursday evening, August 16, 2012.
Dora Poetter was born on May 1, 1922 on her parent’s farm in the Town of Lowell, daughter of William and Louise (Krause) Poetter. She was baptized, confirmed and married by the late Rev. O.W. Koch at Salem Lutheran Church in the Village of Lowell. Dora attended the former Park Lawn School, a one room school house in the Town of Lowell, and the former Bruce Clark Grade School in the Village of Lowell.
Dora had been employed at the former Beaver Specialties and the former Green Giant Company in Beaver Dam. She had also been employed at the Wisconsin Cheeseman in Sun Prairie and retired from Watertown Metals in 1987.
Dora was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Watertown for a number of years.
She became an accomplished seamstress, making clothes, quilts and other things for her children, grandchildren and other relatives and friends. She loved to play cards and played at several places in the area. She also loved to go fishing with her family and dance to polka music.
Dora loved to have family get togethers and spend time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her six sons, Richard (Beatrice) of Jefferson; Daniel (Linda) of Waupun; David (Penny) of Reeseville; Charles (Debra) of Beaver Dam; Roger of Watertown; Steven (Anne) of Watertown; her six daughters, Nancy (Arnold) Kueffer of Rio; Carolyn (Mark) Gallert of Watertown; Cheryl (Michael) Sonnenberg of Watertown; Donna (Joseph) Mickle of Thorp; Rhonda (Kerry) Fiske of Poynette and Kathleen (Kenneth) Yager of Watertown; twenty three grandchildren, twenty eight great grandchildren; eleven step grandchildren, seventeen step great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, as well as other relatives and friends.
Dora was the thirteenth child out of sixteen children and was the last member of her immediate family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Janice Marie Huebner; four grandchildren; eight sisters and seven brothers, Frieda, Selma, Hilda, Annetta, Viola, Erna, Elmira, Marcella, Alvin, Harvey, Raymond, Herbert, Walter, Earl and Robert Also preceding her in death was her dog, Benji.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at 11 a.m. at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Watertown, with the Rev. Anthony Schultz and Rev. Mark Gartner officiating. Burial will be in the Lowell Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call to pay their respects at the Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials, in Dora’s name, may be directed to Rainbow Hospice or to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church.
