Jacob “Jake” F. Burbach
Jacob “Jake” F. Burbach, age 87, of Watertown, passed away Wednesday morning, August 21, 2013 at the Rainbow Hospice Inpatient Care Center in Johnson Creek.
Jacob F. Burbach was born near Friesland on October 10, 1925, son of Leon and Gladys (Schmidt) Burbach.
He was a lifelong resident of Watertown, graduating from Watertown High School in 1941.
Jake served in the US Navy in the South Pacific during World War II until 1945. He was pleased to participate in an Honor Flight trip to Washington, DC in 2008 to commemorate his military service with other Wisconsin Veterans.
Jake owned and operated Burbach Service, Inc. on Main Street in Watertown until his retirement in 1987. Until recently, he enjoyed daily walks and playing cards at the Watertown Senior Center.
Jake married Lorraine Tourbier on September 26, 1981 and was welcomed into her extended family. He was a member of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Watertown.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine, of Watertown; his children, Jim (Brooke) Burbach of Corpus Christi, TX; Jacquie (Steve) Schaefer of Madison and Jean Burbach of Watertown; his sister, Harriet Brede of Watertown, Lorraine’s children, Randy (Eunice) Tourbier, Sherry Zepp and Krisie (Edmundo) Martinez, all of Watertown; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Kay Burbach, along with other relatives and friends.
Jake was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert Burbach and a grandson, Clint Tourbier.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 24th at 11 a.m. at St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Watertown with the Rev. James Werner officiating. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery in Watertown.
Relatives and friends may gather at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the charity of one’s choice.
