Carol M. Coffey died peacefully on Sunday afternoon, August 19, 2018 at Highland House Assisted Living in Watertown.
Carol Marjoria Knorr was born on December 16, 1926 to Marjoria Loeck (nee Williams) in Beaver Dam. She graduated from Columbus High School in 1944. After high school Carol worked in the office of Mangels Department Store in Madison. On September 25, 1948, Carol married John F. Coffey.
Carol and John made their home in Sun Prairie and in 1954, upon the death of Johnís sister, Marion, opened their house to raise 5 year old twin nieces, Mary Kay and Mary Lynn, the daughters of Marion and Ed Uchytil.
Carol worked for 20 years as a secretary/ bookkeeper for the Francis Leonhard Insurance Agency in Sun Prairie.
Playing golf, bowling, dancing, fishing, volunteering at VFW dinners and Sacred Hearts Catholic Church yearly Bazaar were favorite past times.
After a move to Hustisford, Carol and John settled back in Sun Prairie and were members of St. Albert the Great Church.
John died in 1995, and in 2004 Carol moved to Watertown. She volunteered at the St. Vincent de Paul Store.
Hobbies were a big part of Carolís life: playing solitaire and other card games, reading, doing jigsaw puzzles and gardening.
Carol is survived by her cousins, Donna Nimm (Bob), Bert Prest, Georgia Lueptow and David Williams. She is also survived by niece Lynn (Jack Daly) of Madison, and their son Brian (friend Amy Qualmann); niece Kay (Robin Fritsch) of Rochester, Minn. and their children, Meghan (Drew Litchfield), Bryan (Kari) and Brad (Robin) who knew Carol and John as Grandma and Grandpa. Great grandchildren are Will and Evan Litchfield, Tucker, Noelle and Cora Fritsch, Emerson and Eira Fritsch. Carol is also survived by many other members of the Coffey family.
Carol was preceded in death by her mother and her husband, John.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, August 24, 2018 at St. Patrickís Catholic Church, 434 N. Main St., Cottage Grove, WI at 2:00 p.m. with Father Brian Dulli. Visitation will be at the church, from 1:30 until the time of the service. Burial will be at St. Patrickís Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations to Rainbow Hospice Care, 1225 Remmel Dr. Johnson Creek, WI 53094, are suggested. Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Watertown is serving the family.
