James K. Huhn, 78, of Watertown passed away at the Rainbow Hospice Inpatient Center in Johnson Creek on Monday, August 20, 2018.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Watertown with Rev. James Backus presiding. Family and friends may gather at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place at Lutheran Cemetery in Watertown. Memorials may be directed to Camp Phillip in Wautoma, St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Watertown, or Rainbow Hospice in Johnson Creek. James Karl Huhn was born on February 1, 1940 to Armin and Ann (nee Drecktrah) Huhn, in LaCrosse. James grew up in West Salem, and attended West Salem High School until his graduation in 1958. James later received his bachelor’s degree from WI State College in LaCrosse in 1963. Shortly after obtaining his bachelor’s degree, James and Karen Boardman became husband and wife on June 15, 1963. He later went back to college, graduating with a Master’s of Science degree in physics and became a high school physics teacher in Watertown. He later retired from teaching in 1999 after 36 years of employment. James enjoyed outdoor activities such as camping, hunting, archery, golf and working on his train board.
He was a member of the Wisconsin Society of Science Teachers since 1963. James received many honors within the group. James was also an active member in the Wisconsin Wildlife Federation, local Conservation Club, Archery Club, his Best Sound business and various church activities.
James is survived by his wife of 55 years, Karen Huhn; children, Rebecca (Randy) Cox, Steven (Liesl) Huhn, Todd (Barbi) Huhn. Grandchildren, Trinity (Scott) Freemon, Ariel (Matthew) McCrory, Eden Huhn, Austin Cox, Mason Cox, Elisabeth Huhn, Katherine Huhn, MeiLi Huhn. James is further survived by his cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Preceding James in death, his parents, Armin and Ann; younger brother, Jerry; and his mother and father-in-law.
The family wishes to thank the staff from the cancer center in Johnson Creek, as well as Rainbow Hospice. Also, for the family and friends of James for their prayers and support during his fight with cancer.
