Frederick “Fred” J. Busshardt, 84, of Watertown, passed away at his home on Wednesday evening, September 12, 2012, surrounded by his loving family.
Frederick Joseph Busshardt was born in Watertown on September 25, 1927, to August and Lillian (Zimmerman) Busshardt. He was a 1946 graduate of Watertown High School and attended UW-Madison in the Pharmaceutical Program.
On June 19, 1948, Fred married the former Elaine Rose Rennhack in Watertown. Elaine preceded him in death on February 3, 2011.
He had been employed as a truck driver for Schweiger Industries in Jefferson. Fred and Elaine also owned and operated the Brick House Tavern in Sullivan. He had also been employed as a sales rep at Watertown Ace Hardware for 20 years.
Fred was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Watertown and the Watertown Moose Lodge #830.
He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed golfing, playing cards and playing the Wisconsin Lottery Scratch Off.
Fred is survived by his nine children, Pat Richart of Watertown; Terry (Anne) Busshardt of Watertown; Craig (Pat) Busshardt of Watertown; Cindy (Dave) Zimmerman of Watertown; Joe (Dawn) Busshardt of Beaver Dam; Peggy (Ricky) Reich of Watertown; Anna (Tom) Dittmann of Watertown; Renee Busshardt of Watertown and Charles Busshardt of Watertown; 22 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; two brothers, Arthur (Alice) Busshardt of Neely, Nebraska; Donald (Shirley) Busshardt of Watertown, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Fred was also preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Dorothy Neuman and a son-in-law, Richard Richart.
The funeral service for Fred will be held on Saturday, Sept. 15th at 4 p.m. at the Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown, with the Rev. Ronald Kral of Christ United Methodist Church officiating. A private family burial will be at Glenview Memorial Gardens in Ixonia.
The visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 2 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be greatly appreciated.
