Norma Jeanne Sterwald, age 76, of Watertown, passed away on Saturday morning, September 14, 2013, at her home, surrounded by her family.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 22nd at the Watertown Moravian Church with the Rev. Barbara Berg officiated. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Sunday from 1p.m. until the time of the service at 3 p.m. A private burial will be at a later date at the Watertown Moravian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to Rainbow Hospice, Watertown Humane Society, or to the Sterwald family.

Norma was born on August 25, 1937, in Watertown, the daughter of Walter and Helen (Hargraves) Schwenkner. On July 21, 1956, she married Wallace Sterwald of Watertown at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Watertown. She retired from Johnson Controls in 1993, received her HSED in 1994 from MATC Watertown, volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul in Watertown, and was a member of the Watertown Moravian Church. She loved gardening, rummage and estate sales, finding hidden treasures, music and had a great love for animals. Norma loved watching her sons and grandson, Tyler, play music. She was their biggest fan! Norma also loved spending time with her family and having cookouts. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas.
Norma is survived by five children, Douglas (Joni) of Watertown; Wanda (R.J.) Mueller of Orlando, FL; Daniel (Barbara) of Rubicon, Dennis (Rachel) of Watertown, and Ron of Muskego; 8 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, John (Hertha) Sterwald of Watertown; five sisters-in-law, Frances (Donald) Vinz of Watertown, Donna Mae (Earl) Zimmerman of Watertown, Shirley (Tom) Barber of Luka, Miss., Joan Sterwald, and Myrna Sterwald, both of Watertown; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace; her parents; a brother, Richard and her grandson, Tyler Sterwald.
