Rev. Lynn Alan Schroeder
Lynn Alan Schroeder, the second of eight children of Prof. Erwin M. Schroeder and Selma (nee Diersen), was born on May 8, 1942 in Baldwin, WI. His father served as pastor at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Woodville, WI. Lynn Alan Schroeder entered the kingdom of God by baptism at Baldwin Hospital on the day he was born. He was baptized by Rev. O.P. Medenwald. He was confirmed on April 3, 1956 by Pastor Kurt Timmel at Trinity Lutheran Church in Watertown. By the grace of God in Jesus Christ, he entered the kingdom of glory passing from this life at age 71 on September 17, 2013, in Hemet, CA. Lynn’s mortal remains will await the resurrection of all flesh at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Ixonia.
Lynn grew up in Watertown, graduated from Northwestern Preparatory School in Watertown in 1960; Northwestern College in 1964; and Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in 1968. He married Rachel Ann Boldt on June 23, 1968, at Jerusalem Lutheran Church in Morton Grove, IL. The Lord blessed them with five sons, Daniel, Stephen, Michael, Mark, and Andrew.
Prior to his graduation from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, Lynn served as tutor at Michigan Lutheran Seminary in Saginaw, Mich. After he was graduated from the seminary, he was assigned as pastor at St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Maumee, OH, where he served from 1968-1971. He then served as pastor at Bethany Lutheran Church in Saginaw, Mich. from 1971-2004. He served the church at large on the Michigan Lutheran Seminary Board of Control for twenty-four years (sixteen years as chairman of the board); on the Board for Ministerial Education of the Wisconsin Synod; as circuit pastor; and as chaplain of the Martin Luther Memorial Home in Saginaw for twenty-three years.
Lynn is preceded in death by his parents and one niece and two nephews.
He is survived by his wife, Rachel; his children, Rev. Daniel (Linka) Schroeder of Chula Vista, CA; Chief Warrant Officer 3 Stephen (Sarah) Schroeder of Enterprise, Ala.; Rev. Michael (Monica) Schroeder of Wildomar, CA; Prof. Mark (Alissa) Schroeder of Watertown, WI; Rev. Andrew (Christina) Schroeder of Port Huron, Mich. nineteen grandchildren; five brothers and two sisters and their spouses; and fifty nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held at Risen Savior Lutheran Church in Chula Vista, CA. on September 20, 2013, and will be held at Luther Preparatory School in Watertown, WI on Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at 6:00 pm.

The family has suggested that in lieu of flowers, gifts may be given to Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon or Risen Savior Lutheran Church in Chula Vista, CA (his home church) in memory of Rev. Lynn Schroeder.
