Doris E. Hilgendorf, 83, of Watertown, passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 in Madison, Wisconsin.
Funeral service will be held Monday, September 24, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lebanon with Rev. David Phillips officiating. Friends and family may gather at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. An additional visitation will be held at Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown on Sunday, September 23, 2018 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Memorials, if desired, may be directed to the church. Doris Ella Marie Grosenick was born on October 18, 1934 to Ernst and Meta (nee Huebner) Grosenick in Lebanon. On April 12, 1958, Doris married Howard Hilgendorf at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lebanon. She spent her entire work career at Eaton Cutler Hammer Corporation (formerly Durant Corporation) in Watertown. She started in 1957, as the seventh person hired at the Watertown plant. Her first job at the plant was as an assembler. After 55 years of service, she retired in 2012 as a quality assurance inspector. On February 12, 2007, then Watertown Mayor John David, proclaimed the day “Doris Hilgendorf Day in Watertown”, in honor of her many years of dedicated service for the company. Doris was an active member at her church in Lebanon. She enjoyed traveling, following all Wisconsin area sports teams, solving crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family and friends.
Doris is survived by her two children; Keith (Lisa) Hilgendorf of Mt. Prospect, IL, Kim (Jim Neuman) Buss of Beaver Dam; six grandchildren; Ben (Maren) Hilgendorf, Alex Hilgendorf, Megan (Brandon Hiller) Kehl, Courtney (Kyle Eppert) Buss, Kierstyn (nee Buss) (Benjamin) Jameson, Cody Buss; three great-grandchildren; Emberleigh Hiller, Everett Hiller, and Ella Jameson; sister, Myrtle Grosenick; brothers, Edgar Grosenick and Lawrence (Gertie) Grosenick.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Howard; parents, Ernst and Meta Grosenick; brothers, Marvin Grosenick, LeRoy Grosenick, Ernst Grosenick Jr., Arnold Grosenick, Edward Grosenick; sisters, Lucielle Firari and Ruth Grosenick.
