Robert A. Bock, 69, of Watertown passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at his home.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2017 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown. A private family memorial service will be held at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Watertown with Rev. Michael Jensen officiating. Robert Alfred Bock was born on December 2, 1947, the son of George and Ada (nee Shearman) Bock in Owosso, MI. He graduated from Dr. Martin Luther College in 1970 with a Bachelors degree in Education. After graduation he tutored for two years at Northwestern Lutheran Academy in Mobridge, SD. From 1972-1977 he taught at Trinity Lutheran Church in Crete, IL. He married Marilin Hapke in Minocqua, WI on June 23, 1973.
From 1977 until the present he taught physics, science, and math at Luther Preparatory School in Watertown. Over the years he coached basketball, volleyball, and football. Bob at one time served at the Recruitment Director, and was currently the Registrar of Luther Prep. He served his Lord and his community as a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and as a board member of the WELS Historical Society. Bob was a coach and referee for the Watertown Park & Recreational Department, as well as the first coach of the River City Volleyball League in Watertown. He was on the board of directors for the Watertown Historical Society, and the Watertown Community Concert Series.
Bob is survived by his wife Marilin Bock of Watertown; three children: Jonathon (Dawn) Bock of Tampa, FL, Jaclyn (Jason) Scherer of Waukesha, and Jessica (Thomas) Kegler of Uxbridge, MA; six grandchildren: Kyra Bock, Kaitlyn Bock, Kyleigh Bock, Kameron Bock, Lydia Scherer, and Emmaline Scherer; his father George (Esther) Bock of Saline, MI; one sister Karen (Jay) Bylsma of Holland, MI as well as other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ada.
The family would like to thank the staff of Compassionate Care Hospice for the service and love they provided to Bob.
