John C. Humphrey, 86, of Oconomowoc, formerly of Ixonia, passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2013, at AngelsGrace Hospice in Oconomowoc.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, October 6th at 3 p.m. at Dr. Martin Luther Church in Oconomowoc with the Rev. Larry Harpster and Chaplain Mark Rydberg officiating. Burial, with Military Graveside Rites, will be in LaBelle Cemetery in Oconomowoc on Monday, October 7th at 9 a.m.
A gathering of friends and relatives will be at the church on Sunday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
Memorials may be directed to AngelsGrace Hospice, Dr. Martin Luther Church, Shorehaven Health Center in Oconomowoc or to the charity of one’s choice.

John Chester Humphrey was born in Ixonia on April 19, 1927, son of Owen and Lila (Dukelow) Humphrey.
On February 19, 1949, he married Erline Schliewe at his parent’s home in Ixonia.
John had been employed at the former Carnation Company in Oconomowoc in for 46 years.
He was a member of Dr. Martin Luther Church, Senior Lutherans and a founding member of the Carnation Credit Union. He was also a member of the Oconomowoc VFW Post #2260. John had been a trustee and took care of the Bethel Cemetery for many generations.
Survivors include his wife, Erline of Oconomowoc; his children, Dennis (Cathy) Humphrey of Florida;
Janice Humphrey of Johnson Creek; Vickie (Douglas) Rupp of Waukesha; his 7 grandchildren, Genesis (Calvin) Mickel, Ranae Anderson, Adriel Humphrey, Faith (Stephen) Hill, Samara Humphrey, Melissa (David) Carey, Shelley (Jason) Pantzlaff; his 6 great grandchildren, Steven, Jordan, Tristan and Jacob Anderson and Andy and Spencer Hill. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Lois (Donald) Strader of Gillette as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents; his son and his wife, Dale & Kathy Humphrey; a sister, Charlotte Humphrey; a brother and his wife, Marvin & Wilma Humphrey and a grandson-in-law, Dan Anderson.
