Irene M. Hinzmann, 88, of Watertown, passed away Thursday morning, October 11, 2012 at Sunset Ridge Assisted Living in Johnson Creek.
The former Irene Martha Rose was born in Lebanon on April 7, 1924 to Herman and Alma (Zimdars) Rose.
On April 27, 1946, she married Howard Hinzmann. Howard preceded her in death on January 27, 2003.
Irene was a member of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Watertown. She was also a former of the Milford Homemakers and a life time member of the Watertown VFW Auxiliary #3709. Irene was an excellent cook, baker, seamstress, quilter, embroiderer and gardener, until her eyes failed her. She loved trips to Branson and playing cards..
Survivors include her five children, Shirley (Robert) Metzker of Jefferson; Marjorie (Donald) Jaeger of Jefferson; Daniel (Pamela) Hinzmann of Burleson, TX; Roger Hinzmann of Wakefield, NE; Beverly (Charles) Klug of Jefferson; eleven grandchildren, James (Deb) Metzker, Marcie (Dan) Billings, Lisa (John) Kastengren, Eric (Deb) Jaeger, Brandon (fiancé, Jodi Krueser) Jaeger, Thomas (Jessica) Klug, Sarah (Brandon) Kaulitz, Staci (special friend, Josh Fischer) Klug, Leah Hinzmann, David (fiancé, Michelle Schmitz) Hinzmann, Jennifer (special friend, Jeff Spacek) Hinzmann; twelve great grandchildren; a sister, Gertrude Zubke of Watertown; three brothers, Lester (Helen) Rose of Watertown; Melvin (Nancy) Rose of Clinton, IA; Kenneth (special friend, Brenda Hopkins) Rose of Hartsville, SC; a brother-in-law, Roger Schaefer of Watertown, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Irene was also preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Lorraine Rose, Helen Schaefer, Norma Dobrick, Pearl Froelich and a brother, Lloyd “Mike” Rose.
Funeral services for Irene will be held on Monday, October 15th at 11 a.m. at St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Watertown, with the Rev. Michael Jensen presiding. Burial will be in the Aztalan Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call to pay their respects at the Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials may be directed to the church, Rainbow Hospice or to the charity of one’s choice.
