LeDewey, known by many as John or Trippi, was born July 26, 1949 in Albuquerque New Mexico to LeDewey E. Allen Jr. and Jeannette G. Allen. As a child of an Air Force Officer, his love of travel and adventure were shaped by his early memories of time in Maine, Morocco and New Mexico. He attended high school in Satellite Beach, Florida, and graduated from college in San Bernardino, California. It was during his teens that he became an avid surfer; a passion that he carried throughout his life. After college he returned to Florida, a place that captured his heart. He developed a horticulture program for developmentally disabled and carried his love for people with special needs through life. His heart led him to the other coast and he called Seattle, WA home for 33 years, but a big piece always remained in Florida.
He had a thirst for life; enjoying dancing, travel and anything outdoors. He was a lifelong treasure hunter; passionate about scuba diving, horticulture and rock hunting. He had an eye for capturing beauty in nature and sharing that with others which, was evident in his photography and handmade cards. Most of all he was a big dreamer with unlimited optimism about life. He loved with all his heart and shared his grace with everyone he met. He had a strong belief and unwavering faith in God and was willing to share that with others.
He will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his son Chris Allen of Melbourne, FL and his mother Deborah Stone; Daughter Alissa Allen of Seattle, WA and her sister Amber Houghland and their mother Deena Gleason; Sister Nancy Meyer of Watertown, WI; Niece and nephews Forest Meyer of Wausau, WI; Autumn Meyer of Sun Prairie, WI; Hunter Meyer of Hartford, WI; Great niece Kandice Meyer of Tuscon, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Dean Meyer
