Ralph W. Polinske, age 95, of Watertown, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Golden Living Center in Watertown.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2015 at 7:00 pm at Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown with Rev. Michael Jensen of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church of Watertown officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until the time of the service. Burial will take place at St. Bernard’s Catholic Cemetery in Watertown at a later date. Memorials, if desired, may be directed to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Watertown or the charity of one’s choice. Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Watertown is serving the family. Ralph William Polinske was born on July 15, 1920 in Watertown, the son of Otto and Martha (nee Manke) Polinske. He attended St. Mark’s Lutheran Grade School and Watertown High School. On July 19, 1947 he married Evelyn Brooks at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Watertown. She preceded him in death on November 10, 1999. Ralph had been employed on a dairy farm and at Union Upholstery (Schweiger Ind.) in Jefferson. He then went to work at G.B. Lewis in Watertown and then spent 30 years at Brandts in Watertown as a truck driver retiring in 1981. After retirement, Ralph was employed for the three years at the Watertown Humane Society and 15 years as a caretaker at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Watertown. He was a lifelong member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Watertown. Ralph was also a Life Member of the Watertown Archery Club. He joined the US Army in 1942 serving during WWII in France and Germany. He was a member of the Watertown VFW Post #3709. Ralph lived at Golden Living Center in Watertown for the last five years.
Ralph is survived by his daughter, Mary Ann Polinske of Watertown as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Martha; wife, Evelyn; brothers: Vernon, Floyd, and Wallace and sisters, Mildred Foskett and Cordelia Krueger. Ralph was the last member of his immediate family.
