Robert C. Butler, age 80, of Watertown, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at AngelsGrace Hospice in Oconomowoc.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lebanon with Rev. David Phillips officiating. Burial will take place at Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery in Lebanon. Family and friends may gather at the Hafemeister Funeral Home on Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorials, if desired, may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Angel Grace Hospice in Oconomowoc. Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Watertown is serving the family. Robert Charles Butler was born on June 8, 1937 in Clyman, the son of Edward and Esther (nee Rohloff) Butler. He attended Watertown High School. On August 11, 1956, he was united in marriage to Marlene Heck at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Watertown. He had been a lifelong farmer at Prairie Aire Farm as well as AI Services East Central Breeders and Tri-State Breeders. He later was employed as a School Bus Driver for Watertown Transportation and Lamars Transportation. He also was the owner and operator of Bob’s Lawn Service. Bob and Marlene received the AMPI Outstanding Young Couple Award in 1971 as well as AMPI Appreciation for hosting Farm City Days in 1977. He received the High Direct Herd Unit Volume East Central Breeders award from 1977-1979, the FFA Service Award in 1984 as well as the Total Dollar Increase for Tri-State Breeders from 1984-1985. Bob was a AWSC Snowmobile Representative for District 1 from 1985-1996 as well as the President of the Dodge County Association of Snowmobile Clubs from 1987-1988. He was Dodge County Snowmobiler of the Year for the 1986-1987 season. Bob was Vice President of the State AMPI Association. He served as President of the Immanuel Lutheran School of Lebanon School Board and Vice President of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Lebanon Church Council. Bob was a 4-H leader for the Watertown Badgers and Watertown Boosters for over 40 years.
Bob is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marlene Butler of Watertown; children, Rebecca (William) Wolter of Watertown, Cindy (Jerry) Pillsbury of Watertown, Robert (Jenny) Butler Jr. of Waterloo, Victoria Schmidt of Norton Shores, MI, Daniel (Mary) Butler of Watertown, Todd (Julie) Butler of Watertown and Michael (Nicole) Butler of West Bend; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Grosenick of Watertown as well as other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and great-grandson, Micah Peters.
