Irene E. Eichel, age 89, of Watertown, passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2015 at Watertown Regional Medical Center.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 6, 2015 at 11:00 am at Christ United Methodist Church in Watertown with Rev. Ron Kral officiating. Friends and family may gather at the church on Friday from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will take place at Union Cemetery in Jefferson at a later date. Irene Evelyn Krause was born on January 6, 1926 in Grelton, the daughter of Hugo and Ethel (nee Perry) Krause. On February 17, 1942, she married Stanley Eichel at First Methodist Church in Watertown. Stanley preceded her in death on March 19, 1994. Irene farmed with her husband in Grelton until 1955. She then was employed at the Schweiger furniture factory in Jefferson, the National Food Store in Watertown as well as the Piccadilly Book and Smoke Shop in Watertown until her retirement. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church all of her life. Irene was an avid knitter and crocheter. She loved fishing and playing cards. Stanley and Irene enjoyed their many summers at their cottage in Eagle River with family. She was an avid Badger and Packer Fan. Irene enjoyed her Wednesdays with the “Hardees Group” where she would visit with friends at Hardee’s in Watertown.
Irene is survived by her daughter, Candy Taylor of Watertown; grandsons, Tim (Teresa) Raiche; Mike Raiche, both of Janesville; Tony Kurtz of Watertown; ten great-grandchildren; sisters, Hazel Mueller of Lake Mills; Rosemary (Carl) Krueger of Watertown; Elaine (Dale) Renz of Biloxi, MS, as well as special friend Brandi.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugo and Ethel; husband, Stanley; son, LaVerne Eichel; daughter, Mary Raiche; sons-in-law, Harry Raiche and Greg Taylor; grandson, Trevor Kurtz; as well as sisters, Harriet Meyer; June Deitrich; Sally Wagner; and Mary Lou Polensky.
