Marlene A. Beyer, age 86, of Watertown, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at Marquardt Health Center in Watertown.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at the Marquardt Chapel with Rev. Kurt Liebenow of Watertown Moravian Church officiating. Family and friends may gather from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place at the Moravian Cemetery in Watertown at a later date. Memorials, if desired, may be directed to Watertown Moravian Church or Marquardt Hospice. Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Watertown is serving the family. Marlene Ann Saniter was born on October 29, 1931 in Watertown, the daughter of Gerhard “Butch” and Ella (nee Ladwig) Saniter. She was a 1949 graduate of Watertown High School. On October 6, 1951, she was united in marriage to Carl F. “Bud” Beyer at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Watertown. Carl preceded her in death on December 7, 2007. Marlene had been employed as an Executive Secretary at Brandt’s Manufacturing, later De La Rue Cash Systems, for over twenty years. She also worked as a secretary at Watertown Moravian Church for over twenty years until her retirement. Marlene enjoyed her collections, including antique pins, jewelry and pottery. She enjoyed growing roses, browsing flea markets, reading and playing cards.
Marlene is survived by a daughter, Susan (Dennis) Cozatt of Greenfield, Indiana; a son, Carl F. Jr. (Sharon) Beyer of Watertown; four grandchildren, Katelyn (Matthew) Beckman, Nicholas (Melissa) Cozatt, Robin Beyer, Christopher (fiancée Amanda Ruder) Beyer; great-grandchildren, Eric Cozatt, Alexander Cozatt, Nathaniel Cozatt, Mariah Beyer, Justice Griffin, Addy Griffin, Nevaeh Beyer, Levi Beyer, Charlotte Beyer and Stella Beckman; brother, Bruce (Mary Ellen) Saniter; sister-in-law, Virginia Saniter; brother-in-law, Mike Schueneman as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was further preceded in death by her parents, brother, LaVerne Saniter and sister, Mayris Schuenemann.
