Ruth M. Dehne, 83, of Ixonia, passed away on Monday, November 4, 2019 at her home.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Sugar Island with Rev. Allen Tetzlaff officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery followed by a fellowship meal in the church basement. Family and friends may gather at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials, if desired, would be appreciated to the church and the parish cemetery fund. Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Watertown is serving the family. Ruth Magdalene Melcher was born on October 31, 1936 in Ixonia, the daughter of Armund and Luise (nee Kalb) Melcher. She was baptized on November 8, 1936. She attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Ixonia and was a 1954 graduate of Watertown High School. On October 14, 1956 she married Dale Dehne at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ixonia. She had been employed at Zinzendorf Hall in Watertown as well as Country Echoes Antique Shop. She was an active member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Sugar Island where she served on the Ladies Aid. In years past, she sang for many weddings and funerals for her church. Ruth loved spending time with family at the cottage Up North. She enjoyed nature, yardwork and being outside, especially bird watching. She loved animals and music.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Dale Dehne of Ixonia; children, Anna (David Rettler) Flanagan, Stephen Dehne and Leah Dehne; grandchildren, Christopher (Kristen) Flanagan and Conner Flanagan; great-granddaughter, Adalyn Flanagan; sister, Marie Rieder; sister-in-law, Marie Davis as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, Franklin and Grace Dehne; grandson, Cody Flanagan as well as sisters-in-law, Junis (Walter “Wally”) Watson and Lois (Don) Spettel; brothers-in-law, Lou Rieder and Bob Davis.
