Gerald “Gerry” A. Zeitler, age 63, of Watertown, passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at Watertown Regional Medical Center.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 23, 2015 at 11:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church in Watertown with Rev. Brett Brauer officiating. Family and friends may pay their respects at the Hafemeister Funeral Home on Sunday, November 22 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm and at the church on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will take place at Lutheran Cemetery in Watertown. Memorials, if desired, may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church or Trinity St. Luke’s Lutheran School. Gerald Arthur Zeitler was born on August 19, 1952, in Pound, WI, the son of Harvey and Edna (nee Seils) Zeitler. He became a child of God on August 31, 1952. He was a 1971 graduate of Northwestern Preparatory School in Watertown and then attended Northwestern College. On August 30, 1975, he married Shari M. Schoenike at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Watertown. Shari preceded him in death on April 22, 1999. Gerry worked for Marinette Marine Corp. and then worked for the City of Watertown Street Department until his retirement. Gerry was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served on various boards including the Board of Trustees where he was currently the Chairman. He was an excellent woodworker. Gerry loved to spend time with and was very proud of his grandchildren.
Gerry is survived by his mother, Edna of Little Chute; children, Lyndsay (Josh) Smulders of Watertown; Ryan (Tanya) Zeitler of Madison; grandchildren, Emma, Lexi, and Logan Smulders; siblings, John (Donna) Zeitler of Minnesota; Marilyn (Gary) Buss of Appleton; Bill (Sue) Zeitler; Annette (Jeff) Timm, all of Waukesha as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Gerry was preceded in death by his father, Harvey and wife, Shari.
Gerry gave the gift of sight and life through eye and tissue donation.
