Ruth V. Uttech, age 93, of Watertown, was safely gathered by her Lord and Savior to her eternal home on November 20, 2017.
Ruth was born May 14, 1924 in the town of Clyman to Edwin R and Adela (Gentz) Sell. She was received as a child of God at her baptism on June 1, 1924. On April 10, 1938 Ruth confessed her faith as she was confirmed at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Oak Grove. True to her confirmation verse, Ruth remained strong to the end.... "The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1
On September 4, 1949 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Watertown, Ruth married Walter R. Uttech. Ruth and Walter enjoyed many years farming in the Oak Grove area close to the family homestead. Ruth was employed at Phoenix Hosiery in Beaver Dam before moving to Watertown, where she worked for W.D. Sproesser Co, and Brandt Corp. as executive secretary before retiring.
Ruth, along with Walter, was active in the WELS Mission to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and the Silent Dodgers of Juneau/Beaver Dam. Ruth also was a long time member of St. John's Lutheran Church, the church's Ladies Aid and former member of the Altar Guild.
Ruth will be deeply missed by her family. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Walter, one brother, one sister, and her parents.
A Christian funeral will be held on Saturday, November 25 at 11 a.m. at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Watertown. Visitation will be on Saturday, beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place at the Lutheran Cemetery in Watertown following the service.
