Daniel J. Graunke, 37, of Lake Mills, passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at UW Hospital and Clinics in Madison.
Visitation will be 4-8pm on Monday, November 28, 2016 at Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 29 at St. Paulís Lutheran Church in Lake Mills with Rev. James Rath and Douglas Tomhave officiating. Dan was born in Watertown, WI to Dan Vesper (Johnson Creek) and Linda Graunke-Funk (Lake Mills) on July 24, 1979. He was raised by Jay and Linda Graunke in Lake Mills. He attended St. Paulís Lutheran school. He was a 1997 graduate of Lakeside Lutheran High School in Lake Mills. He was married to Jennifer Newman on November 18, 2011 in Jefferson County. He attended Wisconsin Lutheran College in Milwaukee. He was a man of many talents who spent most of his time employed by Forest Landscaping. Dan had an extreme love for his family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them. He found joy in making other people happy and was always the life of the party. There are many memories we all share of Dan singing and dancing anywhere he could. Dan enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers and playing poker. He was an avid Brett Favre and Michael Jordan fan. During his free time, he enjoyed playing basketball, baseball and football as well as going golfing.
Dan was preceded in death by his father, Jay Graunke as well as grandparents, Donald and Gladys Schroeder and LaVerne and Hilbert Graunke. Dan is survived by his wife, Jennifer Graunke (Newman); brother, Matthew Graunke; sister, Krystalynn Sabol (Graunke); mother, Linda Graunke-Funk; in-laws: Pat and Jerry Newman, Brock Sabol, Kristin Newman, Brett and Brittney Newman; nieces and nephews: Landyn and Logyn Sabol; Landon, Ady, and Hadleigh Newman as well as many very close friends, aunts, uncles and other relatives.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family to help with expenses.
The family of Dan wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the entire staff at UW Madison who helped keep Dan as comfortable as possible in his last days.
