Doris Rose (Grosenick) Braunschweig - Lebanon
Doris R. Braunschweig, age 91, of Lebanon, passed away on Monday, November 30, 2015.
Doris Rose Grosenick was born on November 12, 1924 to Henry and Mary (nee Baumann) Grosenick. She was the younger of two daughters. Doris married Wilmer C. Braunschweig on June 10, 1944 at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Lebanon. Wilmer preceded her in death in 1996. They were blessed with two children, Niles and Joanne. She and her husband farmed in the town of Lebanon for over 35 years. Doris had been employed at Watertown Memorial Hospital in the dietary department for 17 years.
Doris loved gardening, crocheting and embroidery, and treasured the projects she completed. She enjoyed cooking and baking, taking her famous schaumtortes to many events. Doris enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing sheepshead and sharing wonderful memories of the past.
She is survived by her children, Joanne Braunschweig of Lebanon; Niles (Barbara) Braunschweig of Lomira; three grandchildren, Nicole (Brad) Ellis of Joshua, TX; Nicholas (Tanya) Braunschweig of Kekoskee; Nathan Braunschweig of Lomira; two great-grandchildren, Erin and Tyler Ellis of Joshua, TX as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Mary Grosenick; husband, Wilmer as well as sister, Ada Braunschweig.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Lebanon with Rev. David Phillips officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown and at the church on Thursday from 9:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will take place at Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery in Lebanon. If desired, memorials may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Marquardt Health Center or the charity of one’s choice.
