Marcos J. Gallardo, age 63, of Watertown, passed away at home early Tuesday, November 29, 2016.

Marcos Jose Gallardo was born in Cuba on December 3, 1952, the son of Porfirio and Blanca (Sanchez) Gallardo. On August 31, 1997, he married Georgia E. Meyer.

Marcos Jose Gallardo came to the United States during the freedom fly when he was 12 years old. In high school, Marcos became an orderly, and then continued working in the medical field, while serving in the United States Navy at the Great Lakes Naval Academy then stationed in Beaufort, South Carolina. While in the Navy, he was a hospital corpsman. After the military, he attended University of South Carolina in Charleston after working at the University Hospital for 6 years as a respiratory therapist specializing in the neonatal intensive care. He then worked as a respiratory therapist at the Watertown Memorial Hospital for 16 years as the Cardiopulmonary Manager.
Marcos had a strong entrepreneurial spirit that led him to open his own business, MicroNet, in Watertown. He was also the co-owner of Main Street Professional Center in Watertown. In addition, Marcos and his wife, Georgia, own an alpaca farm and store, Silver Creek Alpacas and Alpaca Tundra Store, where they raise 27 alpacas which is what they are both very passionate about. He was a member of the Respiratory Association and Zion Lutheran Church in Clyman.

Marcos was an incredible man who loved to tell humorous stories that made people laugh and he loved to laugh as well. He could put people at ease with his warm smile and easy-going personality and always had a positive attitude about life. He enjoyed listening to music and had a love for animals. His tours on the farm were filled with delightful stories that provided education and entertainment. Facebook posts by family and friends included “Today we lost a great man.”; “He will truly be missed.”; “He was funny as heck!”; “He was easy to talk to and had many stories that just kept your attention.”; Amazing man.”; “His laugh.”. Marcos will be sadly missed by many.

Marcos is survived by his dear wife, Georgia Meyer-Gallardo of Watertown; two children from a previous marriage, Marc (Vicki) Gallardo of Jefferson and Linda Gallardo of Viroqua; three grandchildren, Jaden, Olivia and Ava; siblings, Oneida Gallardo, Olivia (Ivan) Sarrion and Jorge Maury (Julie) Gallardo, all of Miami as well as many loving nieces and nephews, all who loved him dearly and will miss him. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at 2 pm at Zion Lutheran Church in Clyman with Rev. Michael Schempf officiating. Family and friends may gather at the church on Sunday from 1 pm until the time of the service. Burial will take place on Monday at 11 am. at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Loganville. In lieu of flowers, memorials, if desired, may be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Watertown is serving the family.
