Carl H. Tessmann, 83, of Watertown, passed away on Friday, November 27, 2015 at Golden Living Center in Watertown.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 11 a.m. at St. Johnís Lutheran Church in Watertown with Rev. Rodney Warnecke officiating. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Watertown with military graveside rites by AMVETS Post # 35 of Watertown.
Family and friends may gather at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, December 4, 2015 and at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials would be appreciated to the family, St. Johnís Lutheran Church, or to Rainbow Hospice. Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Watertown is serving the family. Carl Henry Walter Tessmann was born on March 9, 1932 in the Town of Emmet. Carl served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951-1954. Shortly after returning from his service he married Irene Klokow on June 26, 1955 at St. Johnís Lutheran Church in Watertown. She preceded him in death on July 6, 1999.
Carl was a member of St. Johnís Lutheran Church in Watertown. In addition to farming in the township of Watertown, he worked for Carnation Instant in Oconomowoc, retiring after 33 years. Carl enjoyed fishing, polka dancing, playing cards and traveling. Carl was well known for his big smile and sense of humor.
Carl is survived by his daughter Darlene (Leroy) Godfroy of Watertown; two sons: Dave (Nancy) Tessmann of Mundelein, IL and Daryl (Delene) Tessmann of Freeport, IL; grandchildren: Keith (Jessica) Godfroy and their children, Skylur, Kaden, Camren, Eli, and Aiden; grandson, Craig (Kate) Godfroy and two children, Braeleigh, and Brandt; granddaughter Lisa (Fiance Matt Morris) Godfroy; grandson, Craig Tessmann, granddaughter, Kyra Tessmann, granddaughter, Carly (Ryan) Taylor, grandson, Jon Tessmann; special friend June Wolff, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Carl was the last member of his immediate family.
Carl was further preceded in death by his father Walter L. Tessmann, birth mother Henrietta (nee Dietrich) Tessmann, and mother Clara (nee Schmoock) Tessmann, and sister Betty Mae Zabel.
The family would like to thank the staff of Golden Living Center in Watertown and Rainbow Hospice for their wonderful and compassionate care.
