August H. Wittnebel, 96, of Oconomowoc, passed away Friday morning, December 7, 2012 at Shorehaven Health and Rehab Center in Oconomowoc.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, December 10, 2012, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ixonia with the Rev. Kenneth Ewerdt officiating. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Ashippun.
Relatives and friends may call to pay their respects at the church on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials are suggested to Shorehaven Health and Rehab Center, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ixonia or to the charity of one’s choice.
August Herman was born in the Town of Ashippun on October 17, 1916 to Herman and Maria (Liesner) Wittnebel. On June 14, 1941, he married the former Vila Margelofsky at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Neosho. Vila preceded him in death on October 22, 1969. On May 5, 1973, August then married the former Grace Reddelien at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ixonia. She preceded him in death on April 20, 2009.
August farmed his entire life. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ixonia and enjoyed going to cattle auctions, dancing and playing cards.
Survivors include his children, Nathalia (Dennis) Christian of Watertown; two grandchildren, Ian (Michelle) Christian of Oconomowoc; Heidi (Ryan Hanke) Christian of Eagan, MN; three great grandchildren, Ella, Rylie and Livia Christian; three step children, Richard Degner of Ixonia; Judy (Bob) Kuykendall of Jefferson; Jim (Shirley) Degner of Watertown; five step grandchildren, Trisha Haines, Tracey (Brian) Nimm, Michelle (Andres) Reina, Jeff (Erin) Kuykendall, Jim (Jolene) Kuykendall; four step-great grandchildren; a brother, Adolph “Ace” Wittnebel of Beaver Dam, as well as other relatives and friends.
August was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother, William and his four sisters, Malinda Wegner, Viola Schwartz, Loretta Wegner and Ella Kirchberg.
