Kathryn “Jane” Hanus, age 95, of Watertown, passed away on Sunday December 6, 2015 at Marquardt Health Center.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church with Father Patrick Wendler officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday at the Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown and at the church on Saturday from 9:30 am until the time of the service. Burial will be at the St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Cemetery in Johnson Creek. Hafemeister Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Watertown is serving the family. Kathryn Jane Raymond was born on January 20, 1920 in Illinois, daughter of John and Ella (nee McKenna) Raymond. She attended St. Patrick’s Academy in Illinois. On November 21, 1940, she married Robert “Bob” Hanus at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Des Plaines, IL. Bob preceded her in death on November 15, 2000.
Jane was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church and was a great woman of faith. She loved babies and watching her many grandchildren grow. Jane enjoyed two trips to Alaska and working on their hobby farm. She loved baking for her family’s enjoyment. She was the president of the Woman’s Relief Corps. She entertained troops with her mother during World War II. Jane was known as the “ice cream Grandma”.
Jane is survived by four daughters, Mary Lou Judge of Watertown; Kathryn (Anthony McLean) Maida of St. Petersburg, FL; Eileen (William) Hoof of Watertown; Nancy Jane (William) Liebhart of Watertown; four sons, John (Lowetta) Hanus of Arlington Heights, IL; P. Michael (Fran) Hanus of Janesville; Thomas (Penny) Hanus of Cary, IL; Joseph P. (Betty) Hanus of Watertown; daughter-in-law, Fran Hanus of New York; sister, Mary Ellen Ritchie of Huntly, IL; 49 grandchildren; 90 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bob; son, Robert; son-in-law, Wayne Judge; two sisters; a brother and several infant grandchildren.
