Emmaline “Emmy” J. Lenius
Emmaline “Emmy” J. Lenius, passed away very peacefully, December 9, 2019, on her 92nd birthday at Watertown Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Emmy was born in Watertown on December 9, 1927 to Gottfried and Alma (Winkler) Ruegg. She attended many grade schools and graduated from Lake Mills High School on May 31, 1946.
Emmy married the love of her life, Ronald Lenius, on August 21, 1966 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ixonia. This blended two amazing families, with seven children.
Emmy worked at Village Black Smith, bartended, and retired from Johnson Controls in 1987.
After retirement, Emmy and Ronnie moved to Lodi and enjoyed “lake living”, and spending their winters in Lakeland Florida. After a few years, they moved back to Wisconsin to be closer to their children and grandchildren. They enjoyed 35 years of marriage, until Ronnie passed away in 2001.
Emmy enjoyed vacations with Ronnie, making many friends wherever they went. Later, Emmy enjoyed winters in Florida for a month with her daughter, Ann, and son-in-law, John, visiting her niece and husband, Kathy and Jeff Mallon. She also enjoyed the destination weddings of two of her grandchildren, Jeremy (Monica) Hepp in Key West, Florida and Dana (CJ) Micale in Punta Cana, Dominion Republic.
Emmy enjoyed spending time with her family. Watching her grandchildren grow up, get married and have their own children made her very proud.
Emmy is survived by her sons, Dean (Linda) Lenius and Don (Kris) Hale, both of Watertown; her daughters, Ann (John) Garthwait of Lake Mills, Nancy (Joe) Keeser of Watertown and Dawn (Scott) Masche of Lake Mills as well as daughter-in-law, Norma Lenius Wutke of Watertown. She is further survived by 13 grandchildren, being called not only Grandma, but also affectionately, Gooma and 29 great-grandchildren, many calling her GG; a brother, Rev. Lawrence Ruegg of Minnesota; very special friend, Jane Hollatz and her many, many friends at Kathy’s Buffalo Bar, who were her second family.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Ronnie; sons, Gary Hale and Guy Lenius; sister, Caroline Schultz and two grandsons, Dean “JR” Lenius and Izaak Newhouse.
Emmy will be remembered for her great sense of humor and her love of Bud Light.
