Virginia M. Daley passed away on December 12, 2018, at her home surrounded by her family, after a brief illness.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran church with Rev. Rodney Warnecke officiating. Family and friends may gather at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place at Lutheran Cemetery in Watertown. The family wishes in lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to St. John’s Building fund, radio fund, or Rainbow Hospice. Virginia Marjette Kollath was born on December 28, 1926 to Herman and Hildegard (nee Menke) Kollath in Janesville, WI. At the age of three, the family moved to Watertown, where she was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She attended St. John’s elementary School and Watertown Sr. High School.
On December 20, 1947 she married the love of her life, Archie Daley, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Watertown. They shared 66.5 years of marriage until Archie preceded her in death on July 26, 2014. She enjoyed hosting family gatherings, gardening, baking, sewing, and needlepoint. Virginia was famous for her sugar cookies, coffee cake and fruit cake. She enjoyed her time with her family, and especially her little dog, Heidi. At age 18, she was employed at Brandt Automatic Cashier in Watertown. She took 14 years off to raise her three children, and then returned to Brandt’s, from which she retired in 1982. Her faith and family were very important to her.
Virginia is survived by a son, Richard (Chris) Daley of Watertown; two daughters, Susan (Curt Braunschweig) Sullivan of Lake Mills, Katherine (James) Baum of Johnson Creek; six grandchildren, Nicole (Bob) Smith, Jennifer (Brad) Lemke, Benny Alba Jr., Joshua (Ashley) Fuchs, Nathan (Angela) Baum, Amanda (James) Baneck; 12 great grandchildren, Oliver Smith, Noelle and Nolan Seamandel, Quienten Eckert, Lillian Fuchs, Thomas, Jameson, and Hannah Baum, Mason, Chloe, Archer and Brenna Baneck; sister, Penny (Al) Weber; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; and her special dog, Heidi.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Archie; three sisters, Jean Bertanolli, Ruth Staude, Gerry Walther; one brother, Jim Freitag; son-in-law, James Sullivan.
The family would like to thank Rainbow Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.
