Marva Marie Zwieg was born on October 12, 1934 in Sugar Island, the daughter of Ludwig and Lydia (nee Metzger) Zwieg. She was baptized on October 28, 1934 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Sugar Island. She attended Sugar Island School through 8th grade, graduating in May of 1947 with a celebration in Juneau. She was confirmed on her 13th birthday. On May 31, 1959, she married the love of her life, Wayne A. Block at St. Paul’s Parsonage. Wayne preceded her in death on February 19, 2019. After their marriage, Wayne and Marva were blessed with their only daughter, Belva. They enjoyed watching all of the activities their grandchildren participated in. Together they took many trips across the county, but their favorite place was Northern Wisconsin where they went almost every summer. She enjoyed reading her Bible and prayer book. She loved embroidery, baking, recipe collecting and taking walks. She enjoyed Bingo and social hour at Lake Country Health.
Marva is survived by her daughter, Belva (Dave) Sorcic of Watertown; grandchildren, Blake (Brittany Stehberger) Sorcic of Watertown, Grant (Linda) Sorcic of Wauwatosa and Austin Sorcic of Wauwatosa as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was further preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Elmer (Theresa) Zwieg, Edgar (Elvira) Zwieg, Myrtle (Edgar) Christian and Grace (Bert) Schuett. She was the last member of her immediate family.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Lake Country Health Services in Summit for their wonderful care the last fourteen months. Also, a very special thank you to Allay Hospice, especially Cindy and Cynthia, the “Angel Runners”.
She was the best friend a daughter could ever have.
