Robert H. Imming, 89, of Watertown, passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at Rainbow Hospice Inpatient Center in Johnson Creek.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Sunday, December 23, 2012 at 5PM at St. Henry Catholic Church in Watertown with Monsignor Daniel Ganshert officiating. A private family burial will be on Monday at the parish cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at St. Henry Catholic Church on Sunday from 3PM until the time of the Mass. Memorials, if desired, would be appreciated to Rainbow Hospice or the charity of ones choice. The Hafemeister Funeral Home of Watertown is serving the family. Robert Henry Imming was born on February 25, 1923, the son of Leo and Mary (Casselman) Imming in Watertown. On May 7, 1949 he married Mary Barry at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Watertown. She preceded him in death on July 8, 2007.
Robert was a graduate of Watertown High School. He served in the United States Army and served in the Pacific during WWII. Robert was awarded the Purple Heart after being struck by a piece of shrapnel. After the war he was employed by the Wisconsin Bell Telephone Co. for 39 years as a cable repairman. He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church in Watertown. Robert loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed playing golf, tennis, camping, and spending his winters in Arizona.
He is survived by his children: Sheila (Bud) Kempen of Menomonee Falls, John Imming of Watertown, Madonna (Tom) McFarland of Hartland; Eight grandchildren: Dan Kempen, Andy (April) Kempen, Kevin Kempen, Lisa (Chris) Ackley, Laura Imming, Michael McFarland, Joe McFarland, Tim McFarland; two great-grandchildren, Aiden and Ethan Kempen; a sister Helen Nistler of Green Bay, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Robert is further preceded in death by his parents, a brother Jim Imming; sisters: Anna Schroeder, Dorothy Rothschadl, and Ruth Barry.
The family would like to thank his caregivers, Bonnie, Carol, Diane, Darlene, and Sheena, as well as the staff at Rainbow Hospice Inpatient Center for the wonderful care they provided to Robert.
