Joretta J. Queiser, age 81, of rural Watertown, passed away on December 23, 2016 at U.W. Hospital and Clinics in Madison.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Farmington with Rev. Paul Burk officiating. Burial will take place at the parish cemetery. Family and friends may gather at church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials, if desired, may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Ladies Aid. Joretta Janice Michel was born on May 8, 1935 in Jefferson, the daughter of Henry and Amanda (nee Ebert) Michel. She was one of eight children. Joretta attended the Lake Mills school system, graduating in 1953. On November 8, 1953, she married Lawrence J. Queiser in Lake Mills and together they raised a family of seven children. She was a Sunday school teacher in several area churches. She also helped with Vacation Bible School. Joretta worked for twenty years in the Johnson Creek school system. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she served on the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed cross country skiing, bicycling, arts and crafts, canning and gardening. She loved to watch cardinals and hummingbirds. Joretta enjoyed traveling, especially to National Parks. She truly loved spending time with her family.
Joretta is survived by her husband, Larry Queiser of Watertown; six children, Janice Queiser of Racine; Anthony (Laurie) Queiser of Black Creek; Renee Hafemeister of Watertown; Connie Queiser of DeForest; Scott (Susan) Queiser of Dallas, WI; David Queiser of Sun Prairie; twelve grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; sister, Judy Copsey of Abilene, TX as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son Jeffrey Queiser, daughter-in-law Terri Queiser, five brothers and one sister.
